Fundraising to Cover Registration Costs
Q:
Are there any fundraising options available to cover registration costs?
A:
CBRMHA does not provide fundraising options for our members to cover registration costs. However, there are several external groups who might be able to provide assistance including JUMP START and KID SPORT.
Equipment
Q:
What player equipment do I need?
A:
In order for your child to play hockey at any level, they are required to wear “full equipment”. This protective equipment plays a crucial role in the prevention of injuries. As a parent you are responsible for ensuring that your son or daughter is properly protected. If you have any questions on equipment talk to your coach or CBRMHA Technicial Director. If you are starting hockey for the first time, please use this list as a guide to what you will need and how hockey equipment should fit to ensure your child is properly equipped. Player Mouth Guard, Neck Protector, CSA approved Helmet with full gage, Skates, Pants, Gloves, Shin pads, Jock, Elbow and Shoulder pads, Socks (*all star teams may be supplied with this item) Stick, Hockey Bag, Practice jersey, CBRMHA will supply the team sweaters for the start of the season. Any Sports Store can help you with this, ensure proper fitting for maximum protection.
Goaltender Mouth Guard, Neck Protector,, CSA approved Mask, Skates (consider goalie stakes for older players - atom and up), Goalie Pants, Goalie Pads, Blocker, Trapper (glove), Jock, Chest Protector, Socks (*all star teams may be supplied with this item) Stick, Hockey Bag Practice jersey, CBRMHA will supply the team sweaters for the start of the season. Any Sports Store can help you with this, ensure proper fitting for maximum protection. CBRMHA has goalie pads, chest protector, blocker, trapper and stick for use by the Novice Teams.
Important things to remember; - Kids cannot go on the ice without both a neck guard and a mouth guard.
- Make sure the equipment fits properly. If it doesn't, it won't protect and your child will struggle unnecessarily.
- A stick should come up to your child's chin on skates. If you don't know which way your child shoots, most stores offer straight sticks that will be sufficient until they decide for themselves.
- Skates that are too small may result in sore and cold feet.
- Blade Sharpening:
- New skates do not come sharpened, so get them done before first ice.
- Frequency of sharpening depends on frequency of use. (~ once per 4-6 ice times).
- If your child walks on concrete without guards, their skates will need to be sharpened immediately.
- Make sure your child comes to practice or a game with a bottle of water.
Tax Receipts
Q:
How do I get an offical receipt for taxes?
A:
When ever you register your child for any CBRMHA program you are issue a receipt at time of payment. This is your official tax receipt. Please safe gaurd this receipt as CBRMHA can't issue a replacement one.
Coach Two Teams
Q:
I am an assistant coach on one team, could I be the head coach on another team in a different division?
A:
In the past CBRMHA has had individuals coach more than one team but the board would have to be assured that you have the time and dedication to coach more than one team and that this would not cause a conflict with you first teams coaching responsibilities.
Team Manager
Q:
I am interested in volunteering as a team manager for the 2008/09 season for one of my sons teams (novice c / bantam etc). How would I go about offering my services?
A:
Team Managers are chosen by the teams head coach - if you are interested in serving your team in this capacity you should express that interest to your children's head coaches
