After six tournaments and four championship games, the CBR Atom B hockey team finally wins Gold at the Avalon Celtic Atom Invitational held the weekend of March 26 – 28 at Hyundai Arena. All weekend long fans saw fast paced action and great goaltending from the CBR team. It wasn’t an easy feat for the team as both the semi finals and finals went into overtime. CBR won the semifinal matchup against North East, 5-4, when Liam Piercey scored with 45 seconds left in the first overtime period. The finals were even more entertaining and intense that took two overtimes and four rounds of shooters before Dean Turpin sealed the deal for CBR giving the team a 3 – 2 victory over the Avalon Celtics. Way to go CBR!!
Members of the CBR squad included: Cameron Duff, Liam Piercey, Daniel McCarthy, Andrew Hadfield, Devon King, Cory Porter, Dean Turpin, Jacob Gill, Aaron Peach, Logan Power, Aaron King, Christian White, Alex Hayes, Travis Jackson, James Kennedy, Bradley Hatcher and Andrew Rose. Coaching Staff: Gary Hayes, Gerard Duff, Cory Gill and Manager Randy Hatcher. Throughout the tournament, “player of the game” awards went to Liam Piercey (2), Jacob Gill, Cameron Duff and Dean Turpin.
