CBR MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION TEAM FUND-RAISING

CBR Minor Hockey Association wishes to clarify and state clearly its policy with respect to fund raising activities carried on by its members in the name of the association.

The intent of this policy is not to discourage the very worthwhile initiatives of our members, but rather to maintain a level of control over such activities in order to ensure coordination and fairness of the activities of the many teams in our association.

  • All player registration must be paid in full if a team wishes to fundraise.
  • Teams must submit a Fundriaising Form completed in Full to the CBR Executive for approval prior to commencing fundraising activities.
  • Any team attending invitational or Provincial tournaments that require an overnight stay are eligible to fundraise. Players cost and cost incurred by coaches of traveling teams may be offset by team fundraising only if the majority of parents on the team are in agreement.
  • CBR Minor Hockey Association will not make loans toward tournament registration fees for invitational tournaments. Sole responsibility of all registration fees lies with the traveling team.
  • Solicitations for donations from the business community of current CBRMHA sponsors will not be permitted. CBR Minor Hockey does not want to jeopardize the good relationship we have with our many sponsors. Please check the sponsor page for a list of our current sponsors.
  • Teams are not permitted to hold bank accounts in CBR Minor Hockey’s name or charge product/merchandise in the name of CBR Minor Hockey.
  • No fund raising activity used to offset player registration is permitted.
  • Only fundraising activities sanctioned by CBR Minor Hockey are conducted under the lottery license held by our association as a registered charitable organization and any fund raising activities conducted by others may constitute illegal activity.
  • Individual teams cannot use CBR Minor Hockey lottery license to hold extended ticket draw. Only same day ticket draw events using coupon tickets are permitted. Please advise fund raising coordinator of such draws, dates and locations (this includes chuck a pucks) all tickets and a financial report must be kept and given to the fundraising coordinator after all draws have been completed. Lottery license board must be informed by the fundraising coordinator of all ticket draws within CBR Minor Hockey.
  • No fundraising will be permitted to purchase clothing for individual travelling teams. Travelling teams may fund raise using the following activities:
    • Bottle drive
    • Dance
    • Silent auction
    • Same day ticket draws
    • Bowling tournament
    • Card games
    • Sale of hams
    • Popcorn
    • Saran wrap
    • Christmas ornaments
    • Cookie dough
    • Cold plates
    • Calendars
    • Garbage bags

Other suggestions other than the above maybe considered. Anyone fundraising outside these guidelines will have approval for fundraising revoked. Any team who withdraws from a tournament or do not travel will turn over any fundraising money to CBR Minor Hockey Association.

Should you have any questions regarding any fund raising activity, you are encouraged to contact the fund raising coordinator or our President.
